Ο τίτλος δεν είναι ένα απλό σύνθημα. Είναι το πιο ηχηρό και σημαντικό μήνυμα που πρέπει να στείλουμε στην παγκόσμια κοινότητα Αρμένιοι και Πόντιοι απανταχού της γης. Ειδικά φέτος, που ολοκληρώνονται τα 100 χρόνια από την Γενοκτονία των Ελλήνων του Πόντου, με ημέρα μνήμης τη 19η Μαΐου του 1919, τότε που ο Μουσταφά Κεμάλ αποβιβαζόταν στη Σαμψούντα…
Τι εννοούμε όταν μιλάμε για μία, και στην ουσία ίδια Γενοκτονία των χριστιανικών λαών στην Οθωμανική Αυτοκρατορία;
Την εξόντωση και το διωγμό που ξεκίνησαν –βάσει οργανωμένου σχεδίου– οι Νεότουρκοι το 1915 κατά των Αρμενίων στη δυτική Αρμενία, την Καππαδοκία και την Κιλικία, και την ολοκλήρωση της εξόντωσης και του εκτοπισμού –από το 1916 μέχρι το 1923– του αρμενικού, του ελληνικού και του ασσυριακού πληθυσμού των υπόλοιπων μικρασιατικών περιοχών: του Πόντου, της δυτικής Μικράς Ασίας (της ιστορικής Ιωνίας), της ανατολικής Θράκης και, για μια ακόμα φορά, της Κιλικίας.
Αυτό είναι Γενοκτονία, είτε το παραδεχτούν είτε όχι οι εντεταλμένοι Τούρκοι αρνητές και οι ντόπιοι πάσχοντες από τον πιο κομπλεξικό ρεβιζιονισμό της ιστορίας (για τους οποίους οι διωγμοί και οι σφαγές των Ποντίων και των υπολοίπων Ελλήνων της μικρασιατικής γης δεν συνιστούν Γενοκτονία…).
Είναι Γενοκτονία απλά και μόνο επειδή σε χρόνο ρεκόρ, σε λιγότερο από μια δεκαετία, εξαφανίστηκαν ή ξεριζώθηκαν από τα εδάφη όπου ζούσαν επί χιλιετίες περίπου τρία εκατομμύρια ψυχές από τρεις πανάρχαιους λαούς. Μαζί εξαφανίστηκε ο πολιτισμός τους, αλλά και η συλλογική και ατομική περιουσία τους, πάνω στην οποία χτίστηκε η «νέα» Τουρκία.
Ακόμα μία τραγική πτυχή της Γενοκτονίας, η οποία με το πέρασμα του χρόνου όλο και περισσότερο αναδεικνύεται, είναι το γεγονός πως σήμερα στην Τουρκία ζει άγνωστος αριθμός απογόνων ορφανών και οικογενειών που εξισλαμίστηκαν και εκτουρκίστηκαν με τη βία, μόνο και μόνο για να γλιτώσουν τον φρικτό θάνατο…
Και ας αφήσουν μερικοί «ακαδημαϊκοί» τις υπεκφυγές και τις ψευδοεφευρέσεις τους περί «εθνοκάθαρσης» και όχι «Γενοκτονίας».
Μέχρι και ο προκαθήμενος της ρωμαιοκαθολικής εκκλησίας, ο Πάπας Φραγκίσκος, στην ιστορικής σημασίας ομιλία του στις 12 Απριλίου 2015, κατά τη διάρκεια Θείας Λειτουργίας στη Βασιλική του Αγίου Πέτρου, μίλησε ξεκάθαρα για την «Γενοκτονία των Αρμενίων, των Ελλήνων και των Ασσυρίων».
Τα ιστορικά γεγονότα δεν αφήνουν περιθώριο για αμφισβήτηση: στη μυστική συνεδρίαση των Νεότουρκων στις 8 Φεβρουαρίου 1915, ο κεντρικός εισηγητής του εγκληματικού σχεδίου που επρόκειτο να εφαρμόσουν άμεσα, ο δρ Ναζίμ, είχε πει κατηγορηματικά: «Σε αυτήν τη γη μόνο ο Τούρκος πρέπει να ζήσει και μόνο ο Τούρκος να κυριαρχήσει. Ας εξαφανιστούν όλοι οι μη Τούρκοι, σε όποια εθνότητα και θρησκεία κι αν ανήκουν».
Το να μην ονομάζεις τα πράγματα με το όνομά τους και να προσπαθείς να παραχαράξεις την ιστορία τροφοδοτεί, θέλοντας και μη, τις θέσεις των αρνητών. Η άρνηση μιας Γενοκτονίας είναι το έσχατο στάδιο Γενοκτονίας, είναι αυτή που εξασφαλίζει την ατιμωρησία ενθαρρύνοντας και προετοιμάζοντας έτσι το έδαφος για μελλοντικές Γενοκτονίες.
Και το αντίθετο, το να κηρύξεις «ημέρα μνήμης της Γενοκτονίας», όπως έπραξε η Βουλή των Ελλήνων το 1994, το 1996 και το 1998, όταν ψήφισε αντίστοιχα και ομόφωνα την ανακήρυξη της 19ης Μαΐου ως «ημέρας μνήμης για τη Γενοκτονία των Ελλήνων στον Μικρασιατικό Πόντο», της 24ης Απριλίου ως «ημέρας μνήμης της Γενοκτονίας των Αρμενίων από την Τουρκία» και της 14ης Σεπτεμβρίου ως «ημέρας εθνικής μνήμης της Γενοκτονίας των Ελλήνων της Μικράς Ασίας από το τουρκικό κράτος», συμβάλλει στην αποκατάσταση της ιστορικής αλήθειας και αποτελεί ένδειξη σεβασμού προς τους απογόνους των θυμάτων.
Την ίδια γενναία στάση κράτησε και το Κοινοβούλιο της Αρμενίας το 2015, όταν, με την επίσημη ομόφωνη απόφαση του, αναγνώρισε την Γενοκτονία των Ελλήνων του Πόντου και των Ασσυρίων.
Για εμάς, ως Έλληνες πολίτες και ως Αρμένιους της διασποράς, το θέμα είναι ένα και ξεκάθαρο: το προμελετημένο και οργανωμένο σχέδιο εξόντωσης των Αρμενίων, Ποντίων, Ασσυρίων και Ελλήνων της Μικράς Ασίας συνιστά Γενοκτονία. Οι εκτελεστές της –από τους Νεότουρκους μέχρι τον Μουσταφά Κεμάλ– αποτελούν μια συνέχεια που πρέπει να αντιμετωπιστεί ως μια συνολική, χωρίς παραγραφή εγκληματική πράξη του τουρκικού κράτους κατά της ανθρωπότητας.
